Smart Cremation FAQs

How much does cremation cost through Smart Cremation?

Smart Cremation offers several affordable cremation plans to help you find the plan that best fits your needs. Some families prefer fewer services and a low-cost cremation, while other families want more services to simplify the cremation process or give their loved one a fitting farewell. Contact us to discuss your needs, and we’ll help you find the best cremation plan for your budget, or create a customized cremation plan that addresses all of your needs.

Where can I find an urn?

Your Smart Cremation service comes with a wooden urn that has a place for a photograph of the deceased. We want to simplify the cremation process for you by providing for all of your cremation-related needs. However, if you want to use a different urn for scattering, or a decorative urn that you’ve acquired elsewhere, let us know – we’re happy to accommodate your needs.

If I pre-plan my cremation, do I have to pay now?

No. If you choose to pre-plan your cremation but don’t want to pre-fund, Smart Cremation doesn’t require you to prepay. However, if you don’t pre-fund your cremation plan, you won’t be able to lock in today’s cremation prices, and your cremation plan may increase in cost before your family needs the services. If you do prepay for cremation, you won’t have to worry about inflation in cremation costs because we won’t charge you for price increases for cremation services that are paid in full.

What happens to the money if I pre-fund my cremation?

Smart Cremation is a trusted cremation provider because we treat your money carefully. When you pre-fund your cremation plan, we’ll put your money in a state-approved trust account, or a top-rated insurance company, until the time comes that your family needs the cremation services.

What happens if I pre-plan cremation and then I move?

When you pre-plan your cremation with Smart Cremation, your plan goes where you go. If you move to another city or state, or choose to work with a different funeral home, your Smart Cremation plan will be transferable to any funeral home in the United States.

How do you handle the remains throughout the cremation process?

We’ve created the Smart Assurance Identification System – a chain of custody process that’s designed to ensure that your loved one is monitored throughout the cremation process. Your loved one will be monitored from the moment he or she is taken into our care, through the cremation itself and up to the point that we release the cremated remains into your care. You’ll never have to worry about what’s happening with your loved one.

Are there any hidden cremation costs?

We believe in honesty and transparency. The families who work with Smart Cremation will know what they’re paying for in a plain-language document, and we won’t impose any hidden or unexpected charges. You deserve to have all of the pricing information available so you can make an informed decision about your end-of-life planning.

What paperwork do we need to prepare for cremation?

The experienced staff at Smart Cremation prepares all the paperwork pertaining to a loved one’s death. We’ll arrange for all of the necessary permits, including disposition permits and cremation permits. We’ll take care of securing the signatures and filing the death certificate in the county of death, and we’ll even obtain the number of certified copies requested by the family. Let us focus on the paperwork while you focus on saying farewell to your loved one.

Do you offer veteran’s cremation benefits?

Smart Cremation offers a selection of plans designed specifically for veterans and their families. We offer a Free Veteran’s Cremation Kit that highlights the benefits you’re entitled to from the Veteran’s Administration, and answers all of your questions before you make your arrangements. See our Veteran’s Cremation page for more information, or contact us with your veteran’s cremation questions.
