How is a Body Cremated?
Cremation is a process that is used to return the human body to its most natural, base state. When learning about the process, many people first ask the question, “How Do They Cremate A Body?” The overall cremation process begins, most usually, shortly after death has occurred.
Working with one of Smart Cremation’s professional Smart Family Arrangers, all questions, including ‘how are people cremated?’, will be answered. Our network of cremation facilities are expert in how to cremate a body.
The process of cremation involves the use of a crematorium facility, a registered and licensed facility that specializes in the cremation process. The body is first prepared, ensuring no foreign objects or metals are to be subjected to the high heat required for the cremation process. After preparation, the body is placed into an approved receptacle (e.g. cremation coffin) and then placed into the cremation chamber. With temperatures ranging between 1400 and 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, the cremation takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. After the remains are removed from the cremation chamber, it may be as many as several more hours before the remains are ready to be presented to family members.
