Creamation v. Cremation: Which is it?

Whether you find yourself typing too fast or simply weren’t aware of the correct spelling, many people find themselves arriving at a search for “creamation”. It happens far more often than you think.

While “creamation” sounds more like what we used to do to the one kid with the ball as kids, cremation is actually a process that most ecologically returns the human form to its most base natural state. Through a process of high heat or alkaline hydrolysis cremation results in only the ash of our loved one, along with minute fragments of bone, being left at the end of the process.

The cremated remains of a loved one can then be kept in a prominent location within the home in a stylish urn. They also can be distributed to surviving family members and made into fine pieces of keepsake jewelry, including a relatively new process that allows the ash to be pressed into that most timeless gem, a diamond. Still others may want to find a place that was particularly special to their loved one and scatter their remains. The point is, there are many options available to those who opt for cremation over a traditional burial.

Now that we have discussed the difference between “creamation” and cremation, you may have many more questions you would like answered. The caring and compassionate staff at Smart Cremation are standing by to answer all of your questions and even assist you in the preplanning of your own cremation.
