If you've served in the U.S. military you may be entitled to burial benefits. If you are a disabled Veteran or a Veteran receiving a Veterans pension, you may also qualify for reimbursement of some burial expenses up to $2,000.00. The amount of this reimbursement benefit is determined on an individual case basis by the VA.
All Veterans with an honorable discharge may currently be entitled to:
- A free burial space for Veteran, spouse and dependent children in any National Cemetery that has room.
- A free marker to memorialize both Veteran and spouse.
- A free American flag, which can be bequeathed as a keepsake to any person the Veteran chooses.
- A Presidential Memorial Certificate is an engraved paper document, signed by the current President and expresses this country's grateful recognition of the Veteran's service.
- All Veterans, from any branch of the service, are entitled to a free scattering by the Navy.
