United States Veterans often are surprised to find out their death & funeral benefits are not as good as they thought. It is very common for the Veterans Administration to offer up free space for the veteran and their spouse at a veteran's cemetery that has space. They can be buried or have their ashes inurned in a niche or in the ground. The VA also provides a marker with engraved name and a US flag and short service featuring Taps.
